Is Your Sense of Smell Making you Gain Weight?

According to a new Yale University study, those who have a more vivid imagination when it comes to smelling and visualizing food may be at a higher risk for obesity.

During the study, researchers gave participants a series of questionnaires to determine how vividly they could imagine the sight, smell or idea of food. Their findings suggest that the better the “food imagination,” the higher the participant’s chance of experiencing intense food cravings.

Body Mass Index (BMI)The research team notes that identifying these specific triggers for food cravings is an important step in developing effective weight-loss behaviours.
